Sheena King is an Accredited Play and Creative Arts Therapist based in private practice in Co. Wexford since September 2012. She is also a fully qualified and Accredited adult Counsellor and Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. In addition, Sheena is a qualified 'Baby Bonding' practitioner and 'Heart to Heart' practitioner, which has further enabled Sheena to specialise in focusing on the parent-child attachment relationship for all ages from pregnancy through adolescence.
Sheena holds the following qualifications:
- MA Masters in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy from Dublin Business School (2016)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Play Therapy from Canterbury Christchurch University (2012)
- BA Honours Degree in Psychology from University College Dublin (2007)
- Certificate in Family Therapy from Clanwilliam Institute and Mater Misericordaie Hospital (2009)
- Certificate in Clinical Supervision from Leeds Beckett University and Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy (2017)
- Baby Bonding Practitioner Training with Big Toes Little Toes Ireland (2022)

She is an accredited member of Play Therapy Ireland (PTIrl) and abides by their ethical framework and codes of practice. Play Therapy Ireland is governed under the international body Play Therapy International (PTI) which assures that the highest standards of practice are followed by its members. She is a previous member of the Psychologists Society of Ireland (PSI) and was also a member of the Irish Association for Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapists (IAHIP) for 8 years. Sheena is now a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).
Sheena has almost 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents and families in various settings. She provided individual and group play therapy services in primary schools for 2 years while completing her play therapy training. She worked as an ABA tutor in a special school for children with Autism and also as a Team Leader in a childcare setting with children aged 6 months to 10 years. Sheena also spent 4 years working as a Child and Family Project Worker in a family centre in West Dublin, where her role involved offering therapeutic individual, group and parenting support to children and families.
Sheena spent almost 10 years working with Bridgetown School Completion Programme, working therapeutically with adolescents in secondary school and also offering play therapy to primary school children.
Sheena has over 10 years of clinical experience working as a Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist, since beginning her training as an adult counsellor and psychotherapist in 2014. She worked for over 2 years with adults in Crannog Counselling and Psychotherapy centre in West Dublin. She then gained valuable experience as a volunteer counsellor in The Ford Counselling Centre in Wexford (formerly known as Family Life Service) for over 2 years, in addition to expanding her private practice over the past number of years.
Sheena has enjoyed doing voluntary work with various organisations, especially Barretstown Camp for children and adolescents with serious illnesses. She also travelled to South Africa to an orphan day care centre and took part in various community development projects. Sheena fundraises for charities by actively participating in events such as the annual Flora Women’s Mini-Marathon and the Barretstown Dublin Mountains Challenge.
In more recent years, Sheena has been dedicating much of her time to raising a young family and navigating life’s ups and downs as a mother of two!
Sheena is currently based in private practice in Piercestown village, Co. Wexford.
She offers the following services:

- Counselling and/or creative therapy sessions for adolescents
- Person-centred counselling and psychotherapy for adults
- Parent support sessions
- Clinical supervision sessions for Play and Creative Arts Therapists (students & qualified) in the south east region
